WEYBURN — The Weyburn Fair opened its gates with organizers relieved the rain held off for the Thursday Night Thunder show.
Winner of the burnout competition was Matt Gervais in his Rat Rod. Lawn Mower Races were won by Tyler Metheral. The Kids' Power Wheels Derby heat 1 was won by Burke Metheral, Heat 2 was Asher Maier.
Weyburn Agricultural Society’s Fair Days continues with lots of action to catch over the weekend. Gates to the fair open at 11 a.m. Canuck Amusements will also open at noon.
“There’s a lot of family fun to be had all day,” said Marla Holdstock on behalf of the Weyburn Agricultural Society Board of Directors.
Ol’ McDale’s Petting Zoo will be open at 1 p.m. Remember to stop in the Sports Arena to check out the Household Arts Exhibits, the Tractor Town, the Kid’s Tractor Pull, the interactive Ag Pavilion, and as well as the live demonstrations on stage. The Turner Curling Museum will also be open to tour through. The fun for all ages continues in Exhibition Hall with the Adventure Wranglers Science and Reptile Show. There will be shows happening throughout the day. The schedule is posted outside of Exhibition Hall. Also taking place in Exhibition Hall today was the Midway Market Trade show featuring over 30 vendors.
On Friday night, catch the first performance of the Souris River Rodeo at 6 p.m. in front of the grandstand.
“Make sure you come out to cheer on your local cowboys and cowgirls,” said Holdstock.
Following the rodeo performance Moody Hollow will hit the stage in the Swayze’s Saloon.
Souris River Rodeo Slack will take place on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. The gates to the fair will open at 11 a.m.
The Midway Market tradeshow will continue in Exhibition Hall, along with the Adventure Wranglers Science and Reptile Shows. The Ag Pavillion will be open again with the live demonstration stage, kids’ tractor pulls, and household arts arts displays
The second performance of the Souris River Rodeo will take place starting at 6 p.m. Following the rodeo, Kelten Chyz and Breakdown will hit the stage in the Swayze’s Saloon to close out Fair Days.
