PRINCE ALBERT — A 30-year-old man is in hospital following a shooting and an altercation involving bear spray Saturday morning on the east side of Prince Albert.
Prince Albert Police Service responded to reports of gunshots an injured person in the 1600 block of Muir Drive at approximately 6:41 a.m. on July 4. When officers arrived, they found a victim had been shot and had serious but not life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital by Parkland Ambulance for treatment.
Through their initial investigation, officers learned that there was an altercation between a group of people in the 1600 block of Muir Drive, which resulted in bear spray, and a firearm being discharged multiple times.
The suspects were believed to have left the area in a vehicle prior to police arrival. The victim and the suspects are believed to be known to each other, and this is not a random event. As a result of the shots fired, there was damage to houses in the area, but no residents were injured.
The investigation remains ongoing and updates will be provided when available.
