REGINA — Firearm charges against 27-year-old Dylan Poorman were stayed in Regina Provincial Court on June 22.
Poorman and 39-year-old Justin McKay, 39, were arrested in August 2025 following a traffic stop where Regina Police Service officers found a loaded firearm.
According to Regina police, shortly after 1 a.m. on Aug. 30, 2025, RPS patrol officers were working with the Aerial Support Unit (ASU) investigating a series of break-ins in the 800 block of Athol Street. During the investigation, ASU officers spotted a vehicle leaving the area with a male occupant who matched the description of the break-and-enter suspect last seen.
Patrol units pulled the vehicle over. Poorman was charged with possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, careless storage of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition in a vehicle, and possession of a loaded prohibited firearm.
In May, McKay was sentenced to 354 days in a provincial correctional centre on charges of theft under $5,000, resisting or obstructing a peace officer, and possessing a prohibited or restricted firearm without a license. The remaining firearm-related charges against him were stayed. McKay received 375 days of credit for time already served while on remand.
