REGINA — Photo speed enforcement at certain locations across the province is temporarily inactive as SGI searches for a new vendor to operate the program.
SGI confirmed in a statement that the program, which began a decade ago in Regina, Moose Jaw and Saskatoon, will see some inactivity.
The previous vendor, Verra Mobility Systems, ended its services earlier than expected after making a business decision to terminate the contract. The agreement officially ended on May 31.
“The previous vendor made a business decision to end services earlier than originally planned,” SGI said.
SaskToday reached out to Verra Mobility Systems, but received no response as of publication time.
While some photo speed enforcement equipment will remain inactive, SGI said police will continue to conduct speed enforcement where appropriate and reminded drivers to follow posted limits.
“Drivers should continue to obey posted speed limits.”
In the meantime, SGI is working towards securing a new vendor.
