REGINA — The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating an altercation in Regina's North Central neighbourhood on Tuesday morning.
According to the Regina Police Service (RPS), officers were called to the 800 block of Elphinstone Street for a man reportedly discharging a crossbow while threatening occupants inside the building.
Upon arrival, officers located three people inside, with one woman and a male youth evacuated.
During their response, the RPS said an altercation happened between an officer and a man. Two officers had discharged their firearms, injuring the man.
The injured man was treated by officers until EMS arrived and transported him to the hospital with what appeared to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Because the incident involved an officer-involved shooting, the SIRT is now part of the investigation.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact SIRT.
