BEAUBIER — One person suffered serious injuries in a plane crash near Beaubier on June 8.
In an email to SaskToday, the federal Transportation Safety Board (TSB) confirmed that an aerial application aircraft collided with terrain. The crop duster was substantially damaged, the TSB said, and there was a post-impact fire.
The TSB said it is currently gathering information and assessing the occurrence.
The Saskatchewan RCMP reported that members of the Weyburn detachment received a report of a plane crash south of Beaubier at about 10:40 a.m.
According to the RCMP, the sole occupant of the plane was taken to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance with injuries described as serious but non-life-threatening.
As this incident is not criminal in nature, the RCMP said it has no further information that it is able to share.
In a post on its Facebook page on July 8 at 10:40 a.m., the Radville-Laurier Volunteer Fire Department said it was responding to a call near Beaubier.
"Please be respectful of those involved and avoid the area," the post said.
According to eye witnesses, an ambulance and the STARS Air Ambulance responded to the scene as well. STARS confirmed it transported one patient to Regina General Hospital.
