REGINA — Starting this month, frontline Saskatchewan RCMP officers will begin to wear new navy-blue uniform shirts.
The RCMP announced the new shirts, a part of ongoing efforts to modernize the RCMP uniform, last fall.
Members of the public should note that RCMP officers may still wear the previous grey uniform shirts for the foreseeable future, meaning they can be seen wearing either the grey or blue shirts on duty.
According to a press release, the RCMP understands that seeing a new uniform colour may cause confusion. The RCMP also warns there have been incidents of individuals impersonating police. Anyone with concerns about the identity of the police officer they are interacting with, can ask the officer for identification, police advise.
Individuals can also contact their local detachment’s non-emergency line or 310-RCMP to determine if there is a police officer at their location.
