REGINA — Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Trevor Harris will hit yet another milestone in his impressive Canadian Football League career on Sunday night.
The 40-year-old quarterback will play in his 200th career game when the Green and White take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Mosaic Stadium.
Harris is one of only 18 players to play for Saskatchewan in their 200th game as he works his way through his 14th season in the CFL.
“Aside from age, I would say it’s a blessing,” Harris said of hitting the mark during practice earlier this week. ““I’m very thankful for this country, this league, and how it has helped me develop as a man. I told my wife, ‘Football has taught me so much as a human. It has helped me grow as a person and a child of God.’ “It’s a lot of games. Actually, I didn’t know that (the 200th game is imminent), so it’s wild.”
Harris also continues to climb up the CFL quarterback rankings and is ninth in total completions (202), 12th in passing yards (39,115) and 14th in passing touchdowns (214) heading into Sunday’s game.
As for the rest of the line-up, the Roughriders will see a major piece of their offence make his return as A.J. Ouellette is back on the field after missing the last two games with an ankle injury.
Ouellette hadn’t played since going down midway through the Week 3 contest with the Calgary Stampeders, and in that time, running backs Thomas Betrand-Hudon and Quali Conley did solid work spelling off the injured standout.
Neither back-up ball carrier will be in the line-up Sunday, though, as Canadian Bertrand-Hudon moves to the one-game injured while shaking off the effects of a head injury and Conley moves onto the practice roster.
That unusual move comes as the Riders aim to get under the Canadian player roster limit, which took a hit thanks to safety Nelson Lokombo being ruled out for Sunday and moving to the one-game list with an ankle injury. Canadian Johnathan Edouard gets the start in his place.
Two Canadians slot into the line-up, with Regina product D’Sean Mimbs coming off the practice roster and moving in at slotback and Jayden Dalke returning from the one-game injured at linebacker.
Those were the only changes for Saskatchewan, who see things otherwise intact from their Week 5 line-up.
The Rider Broadcast Network will have the pre-game show beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday, with Dave Thomas and Luc Mullinder bringing you the game call at kickoff at 5 p.m.
