PRINCE ALBERT — A man was transported to hospital with serious injuries after a Sunday afternoon shooting in Prince Albert that led to a high-risk police operation and the arrest of four people.
Police were called to the 800 block of 13th Street West at about 1:30 p.m. for a report of a weapons offence.
When officers arrived, they found a 38-year-old man suffering from what police said were likely gunshot injuries. He was taken to hospital by Parkland Ambulance. Police said his injuries are serious but not considered life-threatening.
The investigation led officers to a home in the 800 block of 12th Street West, where they launched what police described as a high-risk operation. Officers surrounded the home and called for the occupants to come outside.
Police said everyone inside the residence came out voluntarily. Officers later searched the home with a warrant and seized a firearm, ammunition and body armour.
Four people were arrested.
A 25-year-old man and a 20-year-old man have each been charged with several firearms-related offences, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon, careless storage of a firearm and breaching firearms prohibition orders. Police said the two men also face additional charges related to alleged breaches of court-ordered conditions, while the 20-year-old was also wanted on outstanding firearms-related warrants.
The investigation is continuing.
