REGINA — The Saskatchewan Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is serving up another opportunity for the community to support local athletes through its annual Cops, Pops and Pizza fundraiser in support of Special Olympics Saskatchewan.
The event will take place between 4 and 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 23 at Boston Pizza at 3795-Chuka Blvd. in Regina and 1519-8th St. E. in Saskatoon, where Special Olympics athletes and law enforcement officers will team up to serve guests and raise funds for Special Olympics Saskatchewan programs,
Community members are invited to stop by, enjoy a meal, meet local athletes and law enforcement officers, and help create opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to participate in sport, build confidence, develop friendships and experience inclusion.
Funds raised through Cops, Pops and Pizza support Special Olympics Saskatchewan's year-round sport, health and leadership programs that serve more than 1,200 athletes across the province.
"Events like Cops, Pops and Pizza showcase the incredible partnership between law enforcement and Special Olympics athletes," said Rhae-Ann Holoien, executive director of Special Olympics Saskatchewan.
"Every dollar raised helps create opportunities for athletes to train, compete, develop leadership skills, and experience the joy and belonging that come from being part of Special Olympics."
The Law Enforcement Torch Run has been a long-standing supporter of Special Olympics across Saskatchewan and around the world. Through fundraising events and awareness initiatives, LETR members help ensure athletes have access to meaningful sport opportunities and inclusive communities.
In addition to enjoying great food, guests will have the opportunity to meet Special Olympics athletes and learn firsthand about the impact Special Olympics has on their lives.
Special Olympics athlete participants often speak about the friendships, confidence and sense of community they gain through sport. For many athletes, Special Olympics provides opportunities not only to compete but also to build independence, develop leadership skills and form lifelong connections.
More details about participating locations and event activities will be shared through Special Olympics Saskatchewan and Law Enforcement Torch Run social media channels leading up to the event.
