REGINA — Cleaning out the garage or under the kitchen sink could pay off for Regina residents this summer.
A post on the City of Regina’s Facebook page is encouraging people to drop off household hazardous materials for safe disposal while entering a quarterly SortSmart Rewards draw. The current contest runs until Sept. 30. New prizes are offered every quarter.
This quarter's prize includes a slow cooker, food storage containers, a year's supply of compostable kitchen food waste bags and a gift certificate to have a green cart professionally cleaned.
Residents can enter by scanning the SortSmart Rewards poster at the Household Hazardous Material Depot on Fleet Street, located between the City of Regina Landfill and the Yard Waste Depot. Entries can also be earned by dropping off eligible items at SARCAN depots or the Yard Waste Depot.
Accepted materials include batteries, fluorescent and LED bulbs, aerosols, solvents, oxidizers, household cleaners and other hazardous household products.
