ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service (EPS) has announced drug-related charges following a traffic stop.
According to the July 16 police report, the driver was arrested for impaired driving by drug and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. The EPS said multiple dime bags of cocaine, Canadian currency and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking were located in the vehicle subsequent to arrest.
The EPS said the individual was lodged in cells until sober, to be released in front of a justice of the peace with a future court date to speak to the charges.
No further details were immediately released by the EPS.
Also from the July 16 report, the EPS said its members attended to a domestic disturbance between family members. The EPS said a resolution was mediated and no further police involvement was required.
A well-being check was conducted on a woman at the request of family members. The EPS said she was found to be safe and well, and was aware that family had been trying to contact her.
Several youths were reported by staff at a downtown business for shoplifting items. The individuals were identified and the EPS said the matter remains under investigation.
Police attended to an alarm at a business on Kensington Avenue. The EPS said the building was found to be secure and nobody was located on scene.
The EPS received a report of an individual experiencing a mental health crisis who was travelling into Estevan. The person was located during a traffic stop, the EPS said, was subsequently connected with the Police and Crisis Team, and transported to the hospital for additional assessment and treatment.
Several reports came in of a woman causing a disturbance at a local motel on July 17. Members located her a short distance from the motel, and the EPS said she was cautioned about her behaviour and sent on her way.
The EPS said a report of a domestic disturbance at a local residence resulted in a man being arrested and charged with assault. He was subsequently released on conditions and will appear in Estevan Provincial Court at a future date to speak to the charge.
EPS received two separate reports of women panhandling at local businesses. One woman was located and warned, the EPS said, while the other was gone prior to police arrival.
A report of a woman shoplifting at a local business was received, and the EPS said it remains under investigation.
The EPS received a complaint of an intoxicated man sleeping outside of a local business. Members attended and he was arrested for pubic intoxication. The EPS said he was also determined to have an active warrant for his arrest from a previous investigation. The man was lodged in cells to be released when sober.
