REGINA — A couple from Regina has been identified as the victims of a bear attack in northern Saskatchewan in mid-July.
According to the Ministry of Community Safety, a bear was involved in the incident that left two people dead at McTavish Lake. The names of the deceased were not immediately released to the public, but the couple has been identified as Deb and Jay MacDonald.
They were staying at their cabin at McTavish Lake – a fly-in area about 90 kilometres north of La Ronge – when the attack occurred.
On July 15, the La Ronge RCMP received a call for service related to a suspected wildlife incident at McTavish Lake.
After investigation, conservation officers located and killed the bear suspected to be involved in the incident.
