The Saskatchewan Roughriders have bolstered their defence by signing American defensive lineman Derick Roberson and American defensive back Millard Bradford.
Roberson, 30, was an All-UFL player this past season for the Defenders, recording seven sacks and 28 pressures. He led the Defenders to a 5-5 record before helping them reach the United Bowl, the UFL championship game, which they lost 27-20 to the Louisville Kings on June 13.
The 6-foot-3, 250-pound lineman appeared in 16 games for the NFL’s Tennessee Titans from 2019 to 2021 and had 4.5 sacks over that period.
Roberson joins a Roughriders defence that ranks first in touchdowns allowed, first in average net offence surrendered, and third in average points given up per game.
The Roughriders also added Bradford, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound defensive back who most recently attended training camp with the Chicago Bears after spending time with the New Orleans Saints. He appeared in three regular-season games with New Orleans in 2024, making three solo tackles.
The DeRidder, La., native played five seasons at TCU, appearing in 58 games with 27 starts. Bradford finished his collegiate career with 231 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, four interceptions, 19 pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Two of his interceptions were returned for touchdowns.
Bradford was named an Honourable Mention All-Big 12 selection in both 2022 and 2023 after recording 54 tackles in each of his final two collegiate seasons.
The Riders are idle until Thursday when they host the Edmonton Elks.
