ESTEVAN — A 34-year-old Estevan woman has been arrested and charged with possession of stolen property after the Estevan Police Service said she was found with a quad that had been reported stolen several weeks earlier.
According to the July 20 report from the EPS, she was also found in possession of a stolen cargo trailer. The EPS added the owners of the trailer were unaware that it had been taken. The quad and cargo trailer will be returned to their rightful owners.
While in custody, the woman reportedly caused damage to police property, and the EPS said she was charged with mischief. The matter remains under investigation and further charges are pending.
Also from the July 20 report, members responded to a report of mischief at a hotel. A resident reported that someone had been throwing rocks at the window of his room. Members attended and examined the window, and the EPS said officers found that only the inside pane was cracked while there was no damage to the exterior pane. The EPS said it appears the damage was caused from inside the room and not by someone throwing objects at the window. The matter remains under investigation.
Police had a cellular telephone turned in after it was found lying on a city street. The owner has not been identified, as the EPS said the phone is locked. If anyone believes they may have lost their phone, they are asked to attend the police station to identify and claim it.
Officers received a July 18 report of a panhandler at a local business. The EPS said members attended and spoke with the man, who was warned and sent on his way.
Police responded to a noise complaint at a residence in central Estevan. Members attended and the music was turned off.
Officers received a report of a disturbance between neighbours. Members attended and mediated the dispute.
An intoxicated man was located passed out in central Estevan. The EPS said he was arrested and lodged in cells until sober.
Police received a report of youths on the roof of a business. The EPS said members located the youths and warned them about their behaviour. A parent attended and took them home.
A curfew check resulted in a youth being charged with breaching the conditions of her release order. The EPS said she was later released to the custody of a parent.
