SASKATOON — One man was arrested following an assault on a Bike Unit police officer downtown on Wednesday.
According to Saskatoon Police Service, the officer was patrolling the area at approximately 7:30 p.m. on July 22, and observed a man believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant interfering with a nearby business.
When the officer stopped and spoke with the man, he became verbally and physically confrontational towards police. Following a brief struggle, additional officers arrived on scene and the man was taken into custody.
As a result, the 54-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a police officer.
