SASKATOON — Saskatoon Police Service is investigating a series of three stabbings that occurred across the city over the weekend.
The first incident was reported on July 24, when police were called to a business in the 400 block of Confederation Drive at about 4:35 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old woman nearby receiving medical attention from the Saskatoon Fire Department. She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Through their initial investigation, police weren’t able to determine the location of the stabbing.
Members of the Serious Assault Unit are continuing to investigate and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 306-975-8300 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Just hours later, in the early morning of July 25, officers on patrol were flagged down by a 29-year-old woman at around 12:25 a.m., who reported that she had been stabbed. Police learned that the victim had been assaulted by two female suspects in the 500 block of 20th Street West. She was taken to hospital.
Police are continuing to investigate and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 306-975-8300 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
The third stabbing occurred on the evening of July 25 in the 1100 block of Avenue W North. Police responded to a report of a woman stabbed at an apartment building at approximately 7:10 p.m. The woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers arrived on scene and found a male suspect, who was arrested without incident. Police say the victim and suspect are known to each other.
As a result, the 26-year-old man has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and breaching court-imposed conditions.
