SASKATOON — A 38-year-old Saskatoon man is facing charges following a stabbing early Wednesday morning, thanks to the quick actions of a police officer on bicycle patrol.
According to Saskatoon Police Service, shortly after 2 a.m. on July 29 a member of the Bike Unit patrolling downtown observed a confrontation between a small group of people in the 300 block of 2nd Avenue South. As the officer biked towards them, the group dispersed.
When the officer spoke with one of the persons involved, he learned the man had been stabbed by one of the individuals who had walked away. Additional officers arriving in the area located the suspect and arrested him without incident.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
