SASKATOON — Two people arrested by the Saskatoon Police Service Crime Reduction Team have been released from custody following their appearances in Saskatoon Provincial Court last week.
Michael Carl Smith and Randeen Leanne Kut are both scheduled to be back in court on Aug. 12 to enter an election.
Smith and Kut face drug trafficking, weapons, and proceeds of crime charges.
According to SPS, shortly before 8 p.m. on July 16, members of the CRT, with assistance from the Tactical Support Unit, conducted enforcement action in a drug trafficking investigation and arrested Smith and Kut.
After their arrests, police raided homes in the 100 block of St. Paul’s Place and the 2800 block of Rusholme Road. They seized $1,629 CAD, 72 grams of methamphetamine, 23.8 grams of fentanyl, brass knuckles, a butterfly-style knife, a conducted energy weapon, an imitation firearm, a blunt weapon, a 1972 Chevrolet Corvette, a high-value bottle of Scotch, and assorted paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
