Regina Pats’ Liam Pue and Maddox Schultz are continuing to make a difference for Team Canada at the under-18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton.
Team Canada’s only 2010-born players each recorded two points again and helped Canada down Slovakia 6-1 in their preliminary round game on Tuesday. Pue recorded a goal and an assist, whereas Schultz had two helpers.
Pue is up to three goals in the tournament after opening the event Monday with a two-goal effort in a 7-3 win over Switzerland. Schultz matched his two-assist showing Tuesday from the Switzerland contest.
Canada improved to 2-0 with the Switzerland victory and secured top spot in Group A. Canada has already punched its ticket to the Friday’s semifinal. Medal games take place Saturday.
The Canadians close out their round robin against Sweden on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
