SASKATOON — A 22-year-old woman was arrested on July 29 and charged with assault with a weapon in connection with a stabbing on a city transit bus.
Tanika Chantel Bear was released after appearing in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Aug. 3. She is now scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 25.
Saskatoon police say the stabbing occurred downtown on June 10. Officers were called to the scene at 3rd Ave. and 23rd St. at about 8:30 a.m. after receiving reports of an assault. Officers arrived to find a 29-year-old woman who told them she had been involved in an altercation with another female passenger on the bus. She said she was stabbed before the suspect fled.
The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the two were known to one another.
According to court records, Bear also faces charges in Saskatoon court stemming from other incidents, including assault with a weapon, causing bodily harm, fraudulent personation, possessing, transferring, selling or offering for sale an identity document, and failing to comply with a probation order.
