BIG RIVER — The Big River RCMP is asking the public for help in locating a man regarding an assault and firearm discharge.
According to a news release from the Saskatchewan RCMP, on Aug. 5 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Big River RCMP received a report of an assault on the Big River First Nation.
The press release says an investigation determined a group of individuals in a vehicle stopped at a residence on the Big River First Nation. The RCMP said a man from the vehicle assaulted an individual in the residence and threatened them with a firearm. The firearm was discharged, the RCMP said, but nobody was shot. The suspect with the firearm fled on foot, while the other individuals in the vehicle drove away.
A victim from the residence was transported to hospital by EMS with injuries described by the RCMP as non-life threatening in nature. A short time later, the RCMP said officers located the suspect’s vehicle, whose occupants were arrested and later released without charge. The man with the firearm was not located in the vehicle.
As a result of continued investigation, 27-year-old Kerry Lewis from Lloydminster has been charged with one count each of breaking and entering with intent, possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized, assault, failing to comply with release conditions, careless use of a firearm and pointing a firearm, and three counts of weapons possession contrary to an order.
A warrant has been issued for Lewis' arrest. The Big River RCMP is asking the public for help in locating him.
He is described as standing 5'9" and weighing 141 pounds, with brown eyes, short black hair and a nose ring.

The RCMP said the Meadow Lake RCMP’s Police Dog Services also assisted in this investigation.
