WEYBURN — The Weyburn Police Service is investigating a mischief incident at the Soo Line Historical Museum.
According to the WPS report, members were notified of mischief to the caboose located outside the museum. Several windows were smashed, and the door was damaged after someone attempted to kick it in. The investigation is ongoing.
The incident was among 104 calls for service during the week of Aug. 2-9.
In other recent police news, on Aug. 8, police were called to a drinking establishment regarding a customer who refused to leave when asked. The WPS said the man then co-operated with police and was taken home by friends. The man later returned to the establishment, the WPS said, and police were called back. He was arrested and lodged in cells until sober. The man also received a $250 ticket for re-entering a drinking establishment after being directed to leave.
Police were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Weyburn. Upon arrival, officers found that both parties had calmed down. The WPS said further investigation determined that a man involved had an outstanding warrant from the Regina Police Service and was also subject to conditions prohibiting him from having contact with the woman involved. He was arrested, charged accordingly and later released on conditions.
Police received a complaint regarding a girl who had been assaulted by another girl. The investigation determined that one youth attacked the other without warning, causing minor injuries. The accused youth was charged accordingly and released on conditions, including having no contact with the victim.
On Aug. 4, police received a complaint that a man had entered another man’s residence uninvited and assaulted him. The WPS said an investigation determined the victim in this incident had reportedly assaulted the other man the previous week and the subsequent incident was believed to be retaliatory. One man was charged with break and enter to commit assault,
while the other man was charged with assault. Both were released on conditions prohibiting contact with one another.
The WPS also said it responded to 26 calls for assistance involving mental health or well-being concerns during the week of Aug. 2-9.
