REGINA — Two men were taken to hospital with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries following a workplace accident in downtown Regina on Tuesday afternoon.
Hamilton Street remains closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic between 11th Avenue and 12th Avenue. Motorists and pedestrians are being asked to avoid the area and use an alternative route.
The Regina Police Service said officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Hamilton Street at approximately 2:20 p.m. after receiving a report of a workplace accident.
Police, Regina Fire & Protective Services and EMS responded and located two injured adult males. Both were transported to hospital.
The incident happened near a downtown construction site, where eyewitnesses told SaskToday they believed a crew had been lifting materials toward the side of a building when something went wrong, causing scaffolding and other construction materials to fall onto the roadway.
Police have not confirmed the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.
The Regina Police Service and Occupational Health and Safety remain at the scene investigating.
