REGINA — A 19-year-old woman has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder following a shooting early Tuesday morning in North Central Regina.
Police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 11, after receiving a report that two people had been shot.
When officers arrived, they located two deceased individuals, a 42 year-old woman and a 37 year-man, outside a residence. Officers secured the area and requested the additional resources of the Regina Police Service Major Crime Unit, the Regina Police Service Forensic Identification Unit and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service.
A 19-year-old female suspect, identified as Patricia Stevenson, fled the scene and attempted to hide from police in a nearby yard. She was taken into custody with the assistance of the Canine Unit. During the arrest, the Police Service Dog bit the suspect. She was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries consistent with a dog bite.
Stevenson is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, unauthorized possession of firearm, and possession of a loaded prohibited firearm.
She appears in Regina Provincial Court on Aug. 12.
