REGINA — A new judge has been appointed to the Regina Provincial Court.
Suzanne Lalonde will serve as a new judge on the court to fill a vacant role, according to a news release from the province.
Lalonde received her bachelor's in law from the University of Saskatchewan in 2000. The following year, she was called to the bar before her designation as King’s Counsel in 2023.
As a staff lawyer with Legal Aid Saskatchewan for nearly 20 years, she primarily focused on criminal defence and taking on cases for individuals facing complex challenges.
She has also served time in the community and as a professional leader as a bencher of the Law Society of Saskatchewan since 2018, including terms as president and vice-president. She has also volunteered with several community organizations, including Pro Bono Law Saskatchewan, the John Howard Society, Phoenix Academy, and Diversified Services.
Lalonde joins four other judges announced for new roles across the province. Darin Chow is being appointed to the Provincial Court in Moose Jaw, while Roger DeCorby is being appointed to the Provincial Court in Yorkton. Alexandra Findlay is being appointed to the Provincial Court in Saskatoon, and Jason Peszko to the Provincial Court in Prince Albert.
