EDMONTON — An ongoing drug investigation led by the RCMP Saskatchewan Lloydminster Trafficking Response Team (STRT) resulted in several charges against an Onion Lake man after an arrest in an Edmonton, Alta., parking lot.
Lloydminster RCMP say on Aug. 12 the STRT was conducting an ongoing investigation in Edmonton when officers saw two people with a firearm in a parking lot on 103 Street Northwest in Edmonton. Edmonton Police Service were notified to assist with arrests.
A female suspect was arrested without incident, and later released without charges.
The male suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Corey Meesto, resisted and tried to flee from police but was ultimately arrested.
Officers located and seized an imitation firearm, 5.2 grams of fentanyl, 3.7 grams of methamphetamine, cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia during a search of Meesto.
Police charged Meesto with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl methamphetamine), trafficking in property obtained by crime under $5,000, carrying a concealed weapon, failing to comply with a court order, and resisting arrest.
Meesto was also arrested on warrants from Lloydminster RCMP and Edmonton Police Service.
He is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Edmonton on Aug. 20.
