REGINA — Regina gas prices are on the rise.
GasBuddy's latest data shows the average price of regular gasoline in Regina is around $1.65 per litre on Monday.
Compared to the previous week, prices have increased by roughly 5.5 cents per litre.
Additionally, over the past year, gas prices have risen by 30 cents a litre.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said global conflict continues to play a role in surging gas prices across the country.
“Average gasoline and diesel prices rose in every province over the last week, as rebounding oil prices driven by the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries kept pressure upward across the board.”
This is especially true with Russian refining infrastructure seeing attacks from Ukraine, causing impacts on refined product prices.
Elsewhere in the province, Saskatoon also saw soaring gas prices, with the city's average gasoline price reaching around $1.68 per litre Monday, an increase of roughly 11 cents per litre over the previous week.
While the seasonal switch to cheaper winter-blend gasoline could provide some relief in the coming month, De Haan said ongoing disruptions to global oil and refining markets could continue putting upward pressure on prices.
For now, Regina motorists are seeing prices fluctuate from station to station, with the overall market remaining sensitive to developments overseas.
