SWIFT CURRENT — Immigration charges have been laid against a Saskatchewan employer, Syed Taha Rizvi and 102092451 Saskatchewan Ltd.
The employer faces eight offences under Saskatchewan immigration legislation. These alleged offences took place at the Swift Current Husky Travel Centre between September 2023 and August 2025 in Swift Current.
The accused and their company are each charged with:
- Two counts of taking unfair advantage of a foreign national's trust or exploiting a foreign national's fear or lack of experience or knowledge, as prohibited by section 22(g) of FWRISA.
- Two counts of charging a fee or expense to a foreign worker for employment, as prohibited by section 23(5) of FWRISA.
- Two counts of taking unfair advantage of a foreign national's trust or exploiting a foreign national's fear or lack of experience or knowledge, as prohibited by section 5-1(g) of the ISA.
- Two counts of charging a fee or expense to a foreign worker for employment, as prohibited by section 5-3(5) of the ISA.
The first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug.19, at Provincial Court in Swift Current.
