YELLOW GRASS — A collision that occurred near Yellow Grass on Aug. 17 resulted in a power outage that knocked out service to more than 1,100 SaskPower customers.
A post on the Yellow Grass Fire Rescue’s (YGFR) Facebook page said members responded to a collision between a semi-truck and a service truck four kilometres northwest of the community. As a result of the collision, the service truck entered the ditch and struck a power pole, causing the outage.
The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured, while the driver of the service truck was assessed by EMS, the YGFR said. The semi-truck was safely escorted into the community to park, and the service truck had to be towed.
“We extend our thanks to SaskPower for quickly dispatching crews to restore power to the area,” YGFR said on Facebook.
SaskPower noted the outage affected customers in Colfax, Lang, McTaggart, Milestone, Yellow Grass and surrounding rural areas.
In an email to SaskToday, SaskPower said 1,144 customers were affected by the outage, which occurred at 4:05 p.m. Most customers were back on by 6:05 p.m., the company said, and all power was restored at 6:55 p.m.
