PUNNICHY — A new court date has been set for a Kelliher man arrested after a kidnapping involving a firearm in the town.
Punnichy RCMP say that on March 19, the suspect pointed a firearm at a man who was sitting in a parked vehicle outside a Kelliher business.
The suspect ordered the victim to drive him to the George Gordon First Nation.
When two people there tried to assist the victim, the suspect allegedly broke a vehicle window and deployed bear spray at them.
A search of the suspect and the vehicle turned up a sawed-off firearm, ammunition, two cans of bear spray, a machete, a baton, about 36 grams of crystal meth, 24 grams of fentanyl and six grams of magic mushrooms.
Adrian Frank, 31, was in Punnichy Provincial Court on Aug. 18, where he was remanded in custody until Sept. 1.
