REGINA — Regina police are searching for a man whose parole was revoked and who is now unlawfully at large.
Tristan McNabb, 25, was granted statutory release in August 2025. He is serving a three-year and eight-month federal prison sentence for assault with a weapon, possession of prohibited or restricted firearm, contempt of court, unlawfully at large, failing to appear in court, and breach of a release order.
The Parole Board of Canada revoked his statutory release, determining that he would present an undue risk to society if he reoffended.
The board’s decision cited substance abuse, gang association, and a criminally entrenched attitude as contributing factors to his reoffending.
The board acknowledged McNabb’s Gladue factors that have contributed to his involvement with the criminal justice system.
“Early exposure to substance abuse and violence likely normalized these maladaptive coping mechanisms in your life,” say the parole documents. “The dysfunction and instability in your home environment meant that you had less support and less guidance during your formative years, which may have pushed you towards negative peers for a sense of belonging. This may explain your previous gang involvement.
“Your own experiences with victimization may have contributed to your willingness to victimize others,” added the parole documents.
McNabb’s prior offences of violence “raise distinct public safety concerns,” said the board.
In one incident, McNabb and others armed themselves with weapons and confronted someone during a neighbourhood dispute. During a physical altercation, McNabb was injured and one of his accomplices was killed.
“This ordeal stemmed from poor emotional management, inappropriate conflict resolution skills and incredibly negative decision-making," read the parole documents, adding that this was exacerbated by negative associates and substance use.
"Whatever the motivation, one man is dead and you find yourself serving a federal sentence."
