REGINA, Sask. — A string of crimes including graffiti downtown and a robbery had led to charges against two men.
On July 30, Regina Police Service received a report of mischief in the 1300 block of 12thAvenue. The incident occurred the previous day and surveillance footage captured two male suspects spray painting the building’s front doors and adjacent concrete wall. Through their investigation, police were able to identify the two male suspects.
On Aug. 19, at approximately 5:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Victoria Avenue following a report of a robbery. An adult male victim told officers that two male suspects had assaulted him while attempting to steal his bag and personal belongings. When the victim tried to fight back, one of the suspects assaulted him with bear spray. The suspects took the bag before fleeing the area. The victim sustained, what appeared to be, minor injuries during the assault.
Through the investigation, video surveillance determined the robbery suspects were the same individuals believed to be responsible for the earlier mischief incident. Members of the Regina Police Service Robbery Unit located and arrested the first suspect on Aug. 19. The second suspect was located and arrested on Aug. 20.
A 25-year-old man was charged with robbery and mischief. A 24-year-old man was charged with robbery, mischeif and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
