CANORA, Sask — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 44 calls from Aug. 20 to Aug. 27, some of which included:
- four 911 Act calls,
- one abandoned vehicle,
- one animal call,
- one assault,
- two breaches of peace,
- one break and enter,
- two driving while disqualified,
- two Family Law Act calls,
- one Firearms Act call,
- one fraud,
- seven Mental Health Act calls,
- one mischief,
- one municipal bylaw call,
- one operation while impaired,
- one person reported missing,
- three thefts under $5,000,
- one traffic collision,
- eight traffic offenses,
- one uttering threats, and
- three wellbeing checks.
Unwanted firearm turned in
On Aug. 25, the Canora RCMP were dispatched to a residence in Canora to take possession of an unwanted firearm. A small calibre revolver was turned over to police for safe disposal.
Break-in at Canora Golf Club
The Canora RCMP were dispatched on Aug. 24 at 4 a.m. to a report of a break and enter in progress at the Canora Golf and Country Club. Police located a grey Ford Five Hundred car on Highway 5 that matched the description of the suspect vehicle. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled at a high rate of speed towards Kamsack. Investigation determined the suspect(s) broke into the clubhouse through a large picture window and stole multiple items. Strange behaviour = stolen vehicle
The Canora RCMP were dispatched to a disturbance at a residence in the RM of Invermay on Aug. 24. Police went to the home and spoke to a male who was acting strangely. During the investigation police learned the male was in possession of a stolen vehicle. The male was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.
Missing person found in hospital
On Aug. 23, a man was reported missing to the Canora RCMP. Police investigated and located the man at a local hospital.
Missing kids found by local resident
The Canora RCMP were dispatched on Aug. 22 to a report that two children aged seven and nine had ran away from their caregivers during a camping trip at Good Spirit Lake. The children were located a short time later by a member of the community who contacted police. Both children were released into the custody of Yorkton Child Family Services.
