PILGER, Sask. — A total of 52,500 unstamped cigarettes and 530 grams of cocaine were seized by Saskatchewan RCMP in Pilger.
An increased RCMP presence in Pilger resulted in illicit drugs and weapons being seized at a residence.
On Aug. 27, Saskatchewan RCMP executed a search warrant at a residential property in Pilger as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation. The search warrant was executed by Saskatchewan RCMP’s Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team (CRT), Prince Albert Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST), and Critical Incident Response Team.
During a search of the property, officers located and seized approximately:
- 530 grams of cocaine;
- Seven grams of methamphetamine;
- 52,500 unstamped illegal cigarettes; and
- 40 grams of unstamped cannabis.
Saskatchewan RCMP officers also seized:
- a firearm;
- a baton;
- a conducted energy weapon; and
- a sum of cash.
Saskatchewan RCMP arrested a man at the property.
A 60-year-old man, from Pilger, is charged with:
- one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- one count, sell, offer for sale, transport, deliver, distribute, or have in his possession for the purpose of sale a tobacco product, or a raw leaf tobacco that is unstamped;
- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000;
- one count, unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon; and
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.
The suspect appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Aug. 31.
