BIGGAR, Sask. – Update: Battlefords RCMP arrested wanted man John Meszaros on Aug. 24 in North Battleford.
He appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Aug. 25.
Original post: Biggar RCMP are asking the public to report sightings of a wanted man.
On Aug.19 at around 3 p.m., a male prisoner fled from Biggar RCMP as he was being transferred from the Biggar RCMP detachment into a police vehicle. The male was arrested earlier that day for breaching a release order condition and driving while prohibited.
Biggar RCMP searched for the male with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Police Dog Services and a remotely piloted aircraft system. The male was not located. Biggar RCMP continued to investigate.
Later that same day, Biggar RCMP received a report of a theft from a residence in Biggar. The investigation determined a motor bike was stolen. The motor bike is described as a CRT 250. The top of the motorcycle is black and the bottom is blue. It has Rockstar energy drink stickers on it. The investigation determined the theft occurred around 5 p.m. on Aug. 19.
As a result of continued investigation, 34-year-old Joshua Meszaros is charged with:
- one count, escape lawful custody; and
- one count, theft under $5,000.
Joshua Meszaros is described as:
- Height: 5’10”
- Weight: 215 lbs
- Eye colour: brown
- Hair colour/style: black
