REGINA, Sask. — Two people have been charged following an incident in Regina that left multiple people injured.
According to a news release from the Regina Police Service (RPS), on Sept. 5 at approximately 2 a.m., police received multiple calls of an assault in progress in the 2000-block of Broad Street.
Officers located a group of individuals in the 2100 block who reported being assaulted. The RPS said two of them, a 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, reported being assaulted with bear spray. A third victim, a 21-year-old man, reported being punched and kicked to the ground. A fourth victim, a 20-year-old man, was located in the 2000 block. He had been assaulted and his phone had been stolen.
The RPS said EMS attended and provided medical assistance to the victims for what appeared to be minor injuries.
Officers on the ground alerted the Aerial Support Unit (ASU), and within minutes, the RPS said the ASU located two individuals that matched the suspects’ description near Scarth Street and College Avenue. Patrol officers responded to the area and arrested both suspects without incident. Subsequent to the arrest, officers searched the suspects and seized a folding knife.
As a result of this investigation, an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old man are jointly charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and robbery, and one count of assault.
Both made their first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on Sept. 8.
