Zach Lansard had a hat trick and an assist as part of a plus-5 showing as the Regina Pats knocked off the Moose Jaw Warriors 7-3 in WHL preseason action Tuesday night.
Lansard, a third-round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in June, scored twice in the first period and his final goal in the third to pace the Regina attack in Moose Jaw.
He netted the first goal of the contest just over 12 minutes in. He extended the Pats lead to 3-0 with just over a minute left in the opening frame. He then made it 5-1 with less than 15 minutes left in regulation.
It was a nice showing for the 18-year-old, who coming off recording 24 goals and 56 points in 68 games for the Pats last season.
Matt Paranych also had a pair of goals for the Pats, while Ossi Tukio and Jace Egland chipped in with singles. Aiden Wagner assisted on two Regina tallies.
Drake Mooney got the start for Regina and stopped all night shots he faced before ceding the net to Drake Limpert, who allowed three goals on 12 shots.
Cade Mitchell and Kyle Jones also split the goaltending duties for the home side. Mitchell surrendered four goals on 17 shots, whereas Jones stopped 20 of the 23 pucks he faced.
Goal scorers for the Warriors were Gage Nagel, Landen McFadden, and Luke Moroz.
Maddox Schultz and Liam Pue, the two 16-year-old talents, didn’t play for the Pats.
