PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. — Two men charged in connection with the theft of RCMP equipment from a hotel room in Prince Albert remain in custody.
Leonard Bear, 42, and Jamie Ernest Piche, 30, were remanded after appearing in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Sept. 9.
The case stems from an incident on Sept. 2. At approximately 1:43 a.m., the Prince Albert Police Service received a report of a break and enter at the hotel in the 300-block of 38th Street West. An RCMP member reported that he had returned to his locked room and discovered that equipment had been stolen.
Many of the stolen items, including a conducted energy device, police duty jacket, vest, body-worn camera and radio, were recovered. Police say they are working to identify additional suspects and recover any remaining police equipment, including a pistol and magazines.
