REGINA, Sask. — Excitement over the Foo Fighters’ Regina concert coming up Tuesday night is spilling beyond Mosaic Stadium, with local businesses already seeing a boost from fans preparing for the show.
Ken Magnuson, owner of ON AV & ON A Vynyl Records, says his store has gained some traction due to the anticipated arrival of the Foo Fighters.
"Leading up to this week, there's been a lot of people coming in and buying the new Foo Fighters album that we actually just ran out of stock on," says Magnuson.
Magnuson also says that with all the excitement of the Foo Fighters coming to town, people have been buying a lot of other music.
"Having the show here obviously is bringing a great amount of clientele to town," says Magnuson.
Both Magnuson and Joe Hadesbeck, manager of the record department at ON AV, plan on attending the concert. Hadesbeck is especially glad to see the Foo Fighters come to Regina as they were supposed to several years ago but were forced to cancel their tour after the untimely passing of their drummer, Taylor Hawkins.
"We were supposed to get them a few years ago, and then what happened happened, so [I'm] glad that they are back. [I'm] glad that we probably beat out Winnipeg because that's the other stadium — let's be honest — that they probably could've played," says Hadesbeck.
Hadesbeck also emphasized how important large concerts like this are to Regina.
"We need to have this one go over well, so we can keep getting these stadium shows because [Mosaic Stadium] is there and we might as well try and get some bands to come in," says Hadesbeck.
