SASKATOON, Sask. — Saskatoon police arrested several people overnight in two unrelated stolen-vehicle incidents, including one that ended when a fleeing vehicle struck a tree and rolled, say police.
First pursuit ends on Palliser Court
At approximately 11 p.m. on Sept. 16, police observed a vehicle known to be reported as stolen around Rusholme Road and Avenue S North. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle began to evade at a high rate of speed.
A tire deflation device was successfully used, bringing the vehicle to a stop on Palliser Court. The driver of the vehicle, a 29-year-old man, was arrested without further incident.
He has been charged with evading police, dangerous driving, and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
Second pursuit ends in collision, rollover
Shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 17, police observed a vehicle believed to be stolen driving in the area of 18th Street West and Avenue X South. As officers were attempting to confirm the license plate of the vehicle, it fled at a high rate of speed.
A tire deflation device was successfully deployed near 22nd Street West and Circle Drive but the vehicle continued to flee before colliding with a tree and rolling at Milton Street.
All three occupants were arrested without further incident.
The 28-year-old male driver was charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, dangerous driving, evading police, and failing to comply with court ordered conditions. He was also wanted on three arrest warrants.
Two passengers, a 35-year-old woman and 36-year-old man, were also charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.
