ATTON LAKE, Sask. — North Battleford conservation officers received a report Sept. 17 of an elk that was fatally shot and left on private farm land.
According to a message on the Sasktip Facebook page, officers attended the scene and collected evidence. They determined the bull elk was shot, field dressed and then dragged to the edge of the field with a vehicle. Only the head, antlers, and front and rear legs were taken, leaving the rest to waste.
Sasktip stated it is believed that the elk was shot between the evening of Sept. 16 and early morning of Sept. 17.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Turn In Poachers and Polluters (TIPP) line at 1-800-667-7561. Callers don't have to give their name and they might be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
