MESKANAW, Sask. — Melfort conservation officers are investigating the deaths of two bull moose in northeast Saskatchewan.
According to a message on the Sasktip Facebook page, on Sept. 13 at approximately 7 p.m., Melfort conservation officers received a report of a white truck being driven through a standing canola field about nine kilometres southeast of Meskanaw.
Sasktip reported that when the vehicle was spotted, it fled north of Range Road 2215 toward Highway 41. Officers attended the scene and located two bull moose. One had its four quarters removed, while the remainder of the animal was left behind. The second bull moose was left entirely to waste.
A cash reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest or conviction of individuals involved. Anyone with information should call the Turn In Poachers and Polluters (TIPP) line at 1-800-667-7561. Calls are not traced or recorded in any way and callers can choose to remain anonymous.
