REGINA, Sask. — Fuel price app GasBuddy's analyst says gas and diesel prices will continue to be "deeply uncertain" for Canadians.
Average retail gasoline prices in Regina have risen 9.3 c/L in the past week, averaging 186.41 c/L Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 82 gas outlets in Regina.
"Average gasoline prices were mixed across Canada over the last week, with Quebec, Ontario, and New Brunswick seeing declines while Prairie provinces bore the brunt of Great Lakes refinery disruptions, sending gasoline prices up nearly 15 cents per litre and diesel surging almost 25 cents per litre in those markets," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
"Diesel rose in every province, with the Maritimes seeing particularly sharp increases as the Saint John Irving refinery undergoes a major turnaround, tightening regional supply at an already difficult time. With new Houthi attacks and fresh U.S.-Iran escalations adding to the uncertainty, the outlook for Canadian pump prices remains deeply uncertain in the days ahead."
The national average has increased 4.0 c/L in the last week to 182.83 c/L, according to price app GasBuddy. The national average price of diesel has increased 14.9c/L compared to a week ago and stands at 265.8c/L.
Including the change in gas prices in Regina during the past week, prices Sunday were 52.8 c/L higher than the same day one year ago and are 14.4 c/L higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 10.2 c/L during the last month and stands 46.7 c/L higher than this day one year ago.
