The Saskatchewan Huskies cleaned up Canada West’s player of the week awards thanks to a convincing 65-12 win over the Alberta Golden Bears last Friday.
Quarterback Anton Amundrud got the offensive honours, defensive back Lucas Scheck received the defensive recognition, and running back Owen Mazur was named tops for special teams.
Amundrud went 13-for-19 for 285 passing yards and six touchdowns – second-most in a single game ever in school history. He also picked up 18 rushing yards. The fifth-year pivot moved into fourth and fifth place on the Huskies list in career completions and passing yards, respectively.
Scheck recorded six total tackles, five solo wrap-ups, two interceptions, 58 interception return yards, and a fumble recovery. The third-year Huskie also recovered one of the two blocked punts his team managed in the game.
Those two blocked punts came from Mazur. The second-year Huskie also forced two fumbles against Alberta, both of which were recovered by Saskatchewan.
