Trey Markus scored twice in the final 25 seconds of regulation to complete his hat trick, then set up Theron Bensler for the overtime winner as the Wolverines rallied for a 5-4 victory over Yorkton Tuesday night.
The Terriers found themselves in an early hole as Markus opened the scoring just 50 seconds in on the power play. Peyton Allard then made it 2-0 shorthanded at the 4:48 mark.
Yorkton answered with a four-goal second period.
Nathan Ramos scored his first SJHL goal to get the Terriers on the board, and Jake Briltz followed with his second of the season to tie the game.
Alex Morrison put Yorkton in front with his first goal as a Terrier, before Aidan Vallance extended the lead to 4-2 late in the period.
The Terriers carried that two-goal advantage into the final minute, but Warman's hometown product changed the game in a hurry.
Markus scored his second of the night with 25 seconds remaining to make it 4-3, then buried another just 15 seconds later to complete the hat trick and force overtime.
Warman kept the momentum going in the extra frame, with Bensler scoring his first SJHL goal 2:43 into overtime on a one-timer off a setup from Markus, who completed the four point night.
Callum Creig stopped 24 of 29 shots for Yorkton, while Luke Brunen made 21 saves for Warman.
The Terriers are now 1-0-1 to start the season and will look to bounce back Friday and Saturday with a two-game road set against the Kindersley Klippers, while the Wolverines return to action on Friday visiting the Nipawin Hawks.
