TURTLEFORD, Sask. — Turtleford RCMP arrested an adult male and adult female after seizing cocaine during a traffic stop.
On Sept. 24, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Turtleford RCMP were conducting proactive patrols near Highway 21 in the RM of Frenchman Butte when officers observed a truck driving on Highway 21 with no lights on. Officers activated their vehicle’s emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop.
During the traffic stop, police determined the driver was prohibited from driving and noticed drug trafficking paraphernalia in plain view. The driver and both passengers were arrested. While searching the vehicle, officers seized and located 40 grams of suspected cocaine, cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
A 32-year-old man from the RM of Frenchman Butte and a 45-year-old woman from St. Walburg were each charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.
The 32-year-old was additionally charged with driving while prohibited and two counts of failing to comply with release conditions.
They are scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Sept. 28
The third occupant of the vehicle was released without charge.
Turtleford RCMP continue to investigate.
