REGINA, Sask. — The City of Regina’s indoor rinks are open for public skating from October through March, giving residents opportunities to skate, play hockey and take part in winter activities.
“This winter season, all public skates are free. We welcome skaters and soon-to-be skaters to our indoor rinks,” said Diana Burton, director of recreation and cultural services.
Based on resident feedback, the city has expanded its low-sensory skate sessions and introduced stick-and-puck sessions.
Stick-and-puck sessions allow participants to practise hockey and ringette skills in a non-competitive environment. The sessions do not include formal instruction or scrimmages, and slapshots are not permitted.
Low-sensory skate sessions feature reduced lighting, no music and a lower attendance capacity.
Residents are encouraged to check the schedule before visiting a rink, as times and availability vary by location.
Outdoor rinks and shinny sites are also available for skating and hockey during the winter months, depending on weather conditions.
Rink locations, hours and schedules are available through the City of Regina's rink information page.
