PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. — A 23-year-old man is facing 13 charges, including multiple firearms offences, after police say a taxi driver was threatened with a gun in an alley in the West Flat area of Prince Albert.
Prince Albert Police Service say they responded to a weapons call at a residence in the 800 block of 15th Street West on Oct. 6. At approximately 2:45 a.m., police received a report that a taxi driver had been threatened with a firearm while dropping off a passenger in the back alley of the residence. The driver didn’t sustain any physical injuries, say police.
Patrol members attended the residence and established containment. Several occupants exited the residence, including a child who was assisted by Mobile Crisis.
A 23-year-old man who matched the description of the suspect was arrested without incident. Police believed another male remained inside the residence. Due to the presence of a firearm and the potential for another person to be inside, the incident was managed as a high-risk event, and specialized resources were called to assist.
The Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended and worked alongside Patrol members, the Canine Unit, and RCMP to safely resolve the incident.
A search warrant was executed at the residence. The suspect was located inside the residence and taken into custody. Police recovered the firearm involved in the offence during the search. The residence was then cleared, and no other individuals were located.
