LA RONGE, Sask. — La Ronge RCMP have charged a man and woman following an assault and robbery investigation.
On Oct. 6, at approximately 10:45 p.m., La Ronge RCMP received a report of an assault in the community of Bell's Point.
Their investigation determined a male on an electric scooter was approached by two suspects on a quad. The suspects assaulted the male, threatened him, and stole his electric scooter. The suspects then fled from the area. The male was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.
La Ronge RCMP patrolled the area and located the suspects in the community of Bell's Point. One suspect was on a quad, and the other was on an electric scooter. Officers activated their vehicle’s emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop. Neither the driver of the quad or scooter stopped for police.
The quad later collided with a several discarded mattresses in a yard and came to a stop. The driver fled on foot. He was arrested by officers at the scene. The driver did not report any injuries to police.
Shortly after, with the assistance of a remotely piloted aircraft system, La Ronge RCMP arrested an adult female who was located nearby. Officers also recovered the stolen scooter and are returning it to its owner.
An 18-year-old man was charged with robbery with a weapon, flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, three counts of failing to comply with a release order, resisting/obstructing a peace officer, and uttering threats.
A 38-year-old woman is charged with robbery with a weapon, flight from a peace officer, possession of property obtained by crime valued less than $5,000 and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.
They appeared in La Ronge court on Oct. 8.
